Two additional subjects can be taken from any group (only one subject from each group C, D, E and F) with an additional fee as per NIOS norms.
  • A minimum of 5 learners is required to offer a subject. If the number is lower, students may be guided to choose an alternative subject.
  • Subject changes may be recommended within the first term of Year 1 based on academic performance and guidance from the Academic Coordinator.
  • TWE academic planning is aligned with preparation for NIOS April–May (Block 1) examinations. Learners may prepare independently for October–November (Block 2) exams, with support provided wherever possible.
  • For full-time learners, English is a compulsory subject.
  • TWE enrols learners only at Grade 9 and Grade 11 entry levels and does not offer a one-year accelerated NIOS programme.

  • Learner progress is assessed through Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) and Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs).
  • Under part-time enrolment, learners can choose up to four subjects. Selecting five subjects will be considered full-time enrolment. Part-time learners receive only a marksheet upon completion.
  • Official documents such as Marksheet, Transfer Certificate, and Migration Certificate are issued only by NIOS after successful completion of board examinations.
  • TWE follows NIOS curriculum and course materials, with NCERT textbooks used for core subjects.

Learners from recognised school boards who have appeared for Secondary or Senior Secondary examinations and have passed in at least one subject but have not completed the course can apply for admission to NIOS. They may also use the Transfer of Credit (TOC) facility for up to two subjects, as per NIOS guidelines.

Under this provision, Learners studying in a regular school or those who have already passed the Secondary/Senior Secondary examination—or any higher course—from a recognised Board or University may enrol in up to four subjects of their choice to upgrade their knowledge or qualifications. Upon successful completion, only a Marksheet will be issued, and no certificate will be provided. Admission under Dual Enrolment or Part Admission will be governed by NIOS admission rules.

Admission at The World Ecademy (TWE) follows the eligibility criteria defined by NIOS for its examinations. NIOS conducts board exams twice a year — April/May (Block 1) and October/November (Block 2).

NIOS offers four registration streams designed to meet different learner needs, and students can enrol in only one stream.TWE provides academic support only for Stream 1 learners, which is open to students who meet the eligibility criteria for Secondary and Senior Secondary courses.

Learners applying under the Transfer of Credit (TOC) option are also eligible to enrol with TWE.TWE does not accept admissions under Stream 2, which includes learners who have already completed Secondary or Senior Secondary education and wish to take part admission in selected subjects, or those who appeared but could not clear or appear for public examinations from other recognised boards.

TWE enrols learners primarily at Grade 9 and Grade 11 entry levels, where students complete a two-year study programme and appear for NIOS board examinations as private candidates. In exceptional cases, learners already registered for Grade 10 or Grade 12 examinations may be considered, subject to approval by the TWE Admissions and Academic Leadership team.

Secondary Course (Equivalent to Grade 10):

  • The minimum age for admission is 14 years as on 31st July (Block 1) or 31st January of the following year (Block 2).
  • Learners who have passed Class 8 and have valid proof of age are eligible.
  • Learners may also apply by submitting a self-declaration stating that they are academically ready to pursue the Secondary course.
  • Learners who have previously studied at the secondary level can enrol with NIOS to complete their course or improve performance.

Senior Secondary Course (Equivalent to Grade 12):

  • The minimum age for admission is 15 years as on 31st July (Block 1) or 31st January of the following year (Block 2).
  • Learners must have passed the Secondary (Grade 10) examination from a recognised board.
  • A minimum gap of two years between Grade 10 and Grade 12 examinations is mandatory.
  • Learners admitted to the Senior Secondary Course must maintain a mandatory two-year gap from the year of passing the Secondary examination to obtain the Senior Secondary certificate. If this gap is not met, the learner may appear for a maximum of four subjects only in the April–May or October–November examinations. If registered for more than four subjects, only the first four subjects will be considered. The remaining subjects can be attempted only after completing the two-year gap. In such cases, examination fees will be adjusted for the first four subjects, and fees paid for additional subjects will be forfeited
  • Identity Authentication is mandatory. Learners must provide one valid document such as: Aadhaar / Aadhaar Enrolment ID / Passport / Ration Card / Bank Account / any other government-issued ID.
  • For Senior Secondary admission, the Grade 10 (Matriculation) Certificate with Date of Birth is compulsory. No other age proof is accepted.
  • Proof of residential address is required for all learners.

Learners who are studying in another school, are homeschooled, or are registered as private candidates can choose to study one or more subjects online through The World Ecademy (TWE). Students following any curriculum are welcome to register with us. This provides learners with additional opportunities to strengthen their academic profile, especially when preparing for university undergraduate programmes.

Access to a wider choice of subjects at the Secondary level helps learners select suitable subject combinations for Senior Secondary studies. This option allows students to gain recognised academic qualifications while continuing their education in their regular school. It also supports learners who may be unable to appear for other board examinations due to health or personal reasons.

Studying selected NIOS subjects through TWE also offers learners the flexibility to reappear for examinations if they wish to improve their scores to meet university admission requirements. Additionally, students who progress faster in their studies may be able to complete courses earlier than the traditional school timeline. These flexible learning options make TWE a strong choice for learners seeking greater control over their educational journey.

If learners plan to use their NIOS certification for higher education, it is important that they carefully review the subject requirements of the universities or boards they wish to apply to after completing Secondary or Senior Secondary education. Some institutions require specific subject combinations for admission. For example, admission to medical programmes generally requires subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, along with required language subjects.

Similarly, learners who wish to transition to a formal school board for Class XI after completing NIOS Class X should choose subject combinations that meet the eligibility requirements of the respective school boards, while continuing to follow NIOS academic guidelines.

Board Recognition & Examination Process:

NIOS is recognised by all major universities and colleges in India and is considered equivalent to CBSE and ICSE. Students who complete their Class 12 (10+2) through NIOS are eligible to apply for competitive examinations such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and admissions to reputed institutions including IIMs, as per the latest guidelines.

At The World Ecademy (TWE), students can complete their studies entirely online and appear for NIOS board examinations as Private Candidates. NIOS conducts exams in pen-and-paper mode at designated NIOS study centres. Upon successful completion, students receive an official marksheet and certificate, just like any other national board.
